Life Update!

Hello lovely readers, today I am finally back to my blog, and I want to update you on everything that has happened. All the exciting things that happened lately (Read here) went so well, and I really enjoyed every moment of it. Currently, I am in a good place, I still have my amazing friends (!) and I even have something exciting to share with you. I have a guy friend! This is a really big step for me because of my past and you can read about that here. This new boy will be called Boy M for anonymity reasons. We met September last year, and have just been friends since and I promise it’s not anything more! The reason that this was exciting and difficult for me, is that I get very nervous and shy around boys, because of some bad previous experiences. However, Boy M and I are going to see the Bad Education Movie next week, and I’m excited and nervous because I don’t want to bump into any people from my school, because they’ll think that it is a date and a rumor will begin which I really don’t want! If you have any tips on how to handle situations like this please please please comment them and I will read and reply! Also, on the subject of commenting, as i mentioned in my last post, I now have Benefit Roller Lash, Naked 2 Basics and most of the Clinique Anti-Blemish range! So if you want reviews on any of them, let me know and I promise (virtual pinkie promise) that I will get them up ASAP!

As usual, any post suggestions are warmly welcomed, and so are positive comments!

Lots of Love, Rosie May xx

What to expect…

Hello my lovely readers, today I’m doing a post about what to expect on my blog in the next few months. So, my birthday is coming up and I have asked for a few beauty products. However, I by accident found the ones my mum had bought me and this is what I saw:

Benefit Rollerlash

Naked Basics 2

Clinique AntiBlemish foundation

Clinique powder

RT powder brush

So, expect lots of reviews for these 🙂 if you want to see a particular one, please leave me a comment because they really brighten up my day 🙂

Also, I have a crazy busy life at the moment. In the next month I’m having 2 birthday parties, a birthday, my sisters getting married, we break up from school, I go to Paris and the day I get back from Paris (at 11:30pm) I leave for Ireland the day after that.  So I may not be posting as frequently, but I am going to try! Some tips for surviving hectic times in your life:

1. If you have a crazy day where you have so many things to do and remember, make a note (phone or notepad) of everything that’s happening. Put it in chronological order and keep checking it. I found this really helped me 🙂

2. Keep a positive frame of mind. Try not to focus on what’s going to happen, but think about what’s happening today. Live in the present, and enjoy every minute of this craziness because you will miss it when it’s over.

3. Make sure to keep your everyday routines going. Keep good skincare, sleep well, and keep talking to your friends, because they’re going to be the ones enjoying this time of your life with you!

4. Keep a diary (optional) I decided to do this, because I am a very nostalgic person who loves to read back through my old thoughts. Write down even the little things that don’t seem relevant, because they always bring back the memories more than the huge events.

5. Be happy! Smile because this time of your life is really fun, and you need to sometimes forget everything, and look at your current situation. For me, it was realising how independent I had become. I was taking buses to places that I used to have to go with my mum, and I was making my own decisions, and finally living my own life.

So, I hope you liked this! Pleeeease leave me comments requesting new posts, because I promise I will do them, no matter how personal.

Thanks for reading, lots of love

Relationships?

Hello my lovely readers, today i’m doing a blog post inspired by a video I just saw on snapchat. As you may know, I am only 13. However, I may have “fallen in love” a couple of times. Now, interpret these stories as you wish, but any hateful comments will be reported.

1. Boy X

For anonymity reasons, I won’t name these boys, so this one is called X. I met X when I was 3 years old, and we went to school together from the ages of 3-13.  Obviously, it wasn’t love at first sight, but we were good friends for a long time. We were the smart kids in our class, and therefore were made to sit at the back so we didn’t disturb anyone. In about Year 7 I suddenly realised how strong my feelings were for him. We had been best friends for so long, and it felt like a little part of my heart was dedicated to him. However, this is a sad story as he was also madly in love with someone. My best friend/ enemy. I may talk about her more, but we were the classic on and off friends. They dated, and as we were all at boarding school, there were many  “can you stand over there whilst we make out behind this tree” moments. This broke my heart entirely. Eventually he found out how much I liked him, and started treating me really badly. Calling me names, insulting me, but as I was so naïve, I believed we ‘belonged together’ and things would all come together. They didn’t. And now, everyday when I go to school, I know that he is only 4.9 miles away from me, and that is really difficult for me, because it feels like there’s a whole universe between us now.

2. Boy Y

When I moved schools, my new school was across the road from an all boys school (mine is all girls) And, that school was doing a play and they needed some girls to play the female roles. Because I quite like drama, I decided to sign up. I got the part I wanted, and walked over to the boys school for our first rehearsal. When I arrived, I was greeted by a cloud of 15 boys, and only 2 other girls. For an awkward, shy and slightly anxiety prone girl, this was terrifying. Then, the drama teacher called everyone onto the stage, apart from me and Boy Y. We awkwardly exchanged names, with the knowledge that in 5 minutes we were going to have to act madly in love, as our characters were. I instantly knew I liked him, and it escalated from there. Of course, he found out and things went downhill. We had a nice friendship whilst it lasted, as he is a very friendly person, and I’d like to think we’re still on good terms 🙂

So, what are your opinions on these little teen romances? Love or not? Were they worth my tears, or just time lost? My advice to anyone who is in a similar situation, is don’t let your happiness depend on that person. Make sure you keep your friends close, because in the end you might end up crying on their shoulder. Hope you liked this style of post,

Nars Orgasm Dupe!

hey guys! Sorry for inactivity, exams are killing me. Today I have a massive dupe alert for you, which you may already know about. It is the Sleek Rose Gold Blush.

This cost me £4.99 from SuperDrug a while ago, and I really love it! Now, to the proof of this duplication:

Here is a side by side view:

They are both a classic pink with some grey and brown undertones, and the amazing thing is the gorgeous gold shinmer, making it almost highlighter level shimmery! Swatches:

obviously the nars blush is more pigmented, but the sleek one can be built up to your preferred level of pigmentation. Even the packaging is the same, a matte black rectangular package with a mirror. Personally, I can’t choose a favourite because they are so identical. Also, I didn’t buy the nars blush it was a gift from my sister!

Organisation Tips

Hey Guys!

Hope you don’t mind that I haven’t been posting that much, but I didn’t feel like I really had anything to blog about until now 🙂

So I am currently at secondary school, in Year 9 (Idk what that is in America but I’m 13 nearly 14) and I get a lot of homework, all the time. And at first I really struggled to keep on top of all my assignments, and I never revised for tests, but now I’ve settled in more and I think I have some good tips for helping you guys to stay ahead of stuff.

1. Procrastination is death.

I know every one of you will have done this before. You have a massive essay you need to write, or a test you need to study before, but you get distracted by YouTube or your phone or the window. My tip is think about how long the task will take, and if it is particularly long, break it down. Have a little break in the middle but the key to this working is self-discipline. Say Ok, I’ll watch one video, or I’ll have 10 minutes. This will take a while to get used to, but eventually the procrastination will be overcome by guilt, and hopefully it will get done.

2. Make a list.

This may be personal preference, but I really like making a list with little check boxes, because you get a sense of achievement as you tick things off. A little extra that I like is drawing a line after a certain number of tasks, and I’ll label that line with, for example, 5 minute tea break or watch 1 episode of Grey’s Anatomy. And when you’ve done everything on the list, you’re done 😀

3. Never forget again.

So, I have quite a lot of tests and too many times I have been lying in bed, about to fall asleep, when I remember: I HAVE A HUGE PHYSICS TEST TOMORROW FIRST THING. There are a few things I use to make sure I never forget. The first is very simple, write it down. My school issued us with planners so I write in 2 days before the test that I need to revise, and I also write it in the day before. If your school doesn’t have something like that, there are some iPhone thingys I use as well. The simplest, Reminders. Simply go on to reminders, create a list, and add a new reminder. The most important step is this: Remind on a Day. IMG_8447 Choose a time that works for you, and your phone will do the rest! The last app that I use is called MyHomework. You have to fill in your timetable, and which classes you take, then you add in homeworks as you get set them. You can organise them with priority, and you will get notifications if you have upcoming ones.

I hope you liked this style of post, pleeeease comment any suggestions you have and I promise to do them!

Moving On

Hey guys! Today i’m doing an advice post, about outgrowing things, and how to move on. Sorry for being a bit inactive, but my wifi was broken for a week 😦

In September 2014 I started a new school. I had been at my old school from the age of 2, right up to when I was 13. I thought it was going to be impossibly difficult to leave, but in reality it felt natural. I had been there for so long, I had got used to the routine after 11 years, and it was my only experience of school. I may go into more detail on another blog about this but essentially, towards the end I wasn’t very happy at that school. I didn’t have any real friends who were girls, and my only true friends were 3 boys. I know that sounds like i’m a whore, but they were just right for me. Anyway, in the last week, I had a fight with a girl who I thought had been my friend. I was extremely surprised to find that now I barely ever think about her. Because I moved on. I think it’s all down to something called closure. Things ended with her, I was upset at first, but then I realised that she was one of the reasons for my unhappiness.

Skip forward about 4 months. I moved to an all girls school. Immediately I met so many wonderful people. They were all so real. They didn’t try to be anyone else, and they didn’t hide their weirdness. On a school trip to Belgium, I was sitting outside a waffle parlour with 4 friends, laughing hysterically, and I found myself thinking “this is what life is supposed to feel like” those girls, amongst many, brightened my life. If I had never moved on, and I was still trying to impress people who didn’t like me, I would never be nearly as happy as I am today. Sometimes it takes events that we can’t control, to make us see things clearer. I was sad about moving schools, but after the first week at my new school, I felt like a new person. A happy, confident person that I think had always been inside me, it just took something big to bring her out.

Never underestimate your power to change and move on. Right now, I am the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. So, Vicky, Stella, Eleanor, Vicki, Grace, Rebecca, Poppy, Hanna, if you’re reading this, I am eternally grateful to you, for making me become the person I wanted to be, I love you all to the moon and back, and this post is dedicated to you.

Lots of Love, Rosie May xxx

Week Update #1

Hey guys!
This post is going to be where I tell you all what I did on each day of my half term, which might give you some inspiration if you’re feeling bored in your holidays!
Monday
So on Monday I went to town with two friends, to see a movie 🙂 we saw The Theory Of Everything and I really liked it – Eddie Redmayne was phenomenal – and afterwards I had a cheeky little trip to Boots… I only got one thing which, if you read my latest post, you will know I have been loving is *drum roll*

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream

Maybelline BB Cream
I bought this having seen it used in a Jennifer Fix video, who has an amazing YouTube channel, and then I looked at various reviews and the combination of lightweight and salicylic acid made it perfect for me! So far I am super happy with this BB Cream, and if you want full details then read my BB Cream comparison post 🙂
We also took a little trip to H&M and having heard pretty good things about their Makeup Sponge I thought £1.99 wasn’t going to hurt. It’s a cute pink makeup sponge, which is supposedly a dupe for a Beauty Blender and the Real Techniques Sponge.

So far, I really like this sponge. It blends the bb cream effortlessly into the skin, giving you a flawless finish. It doesn’t absorb and product, and overall, I really like it 🙂

Tuesday

So, on Tuesday I went into town with a friend, and both of our french exchanges (I will do a post about the french exchange soon 😉 ) , and we went shopping and ice skating. We took a little trip to Lush, and I wasn’t going to buy anything until I saw this.

Lush’s Limited Edition Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar.

I would have linked the page on Lush, but sadly it’s gone, as it was for Valentine’s Day. I had to buy this because if you know me at all, you will know that by day, I’m an awkward teenager, and by night, I’m a unicorn *evil laughs* it smells amazing of lavender, and makes your bath go a pastel lilac, and smells divine.

I also got a cheeky phone case, with a unicorn on it… £1 from Primark thank you very muchIMG_1568

Ice skating was so much fun, even though I was completely awful at it, and it was a really great day 🙂

Wednesday

So on Wednesday I didn’t do a lot, but I did go to the park with a friend which was really nice 🙂

Thursday

Today I went into town (I don’t normally go into town 3 times a week) with 5 of my best friends. We are in a Duke Of Edinburgh group together – if you live outside the UK you won’t have heard of D of E, if you want to read about it here’s a lovely little link (alliteration 😉 ): D of E We all went into town and did a little bit of cheeky shopping, and one of the places we visited was Boots. As you all know, I LOVE BOOTS ❤ I am a bit obsessed with makeup and Boots is makeup heaven. (If you’re from America it’s basically a drugstore that does high-end, and low-end makeup, health things and lots of other lovely things) And, I had been looking for a felt liner for a while so I got this:

IMG_1567

Collection Extreme 24hr Felt Tip Liner in Black

It costs £2.99 in Boots and Superdrug, and having tested it today, I really love it (review coming soon)

We also built a bear…

I know this is a pretty random post, almost like a diary entry, and let me know if you liked it! 🙂

BB Cream Comparison

Hey Guys!

Today I have my first beauty post on my blog! Exciteeeedddd

So, I am going to be comparing two BB Creams today, The Body Shop All In One BB Cream and Maybelline Dream Pure BB CreamThe aspects which I will be comparing are Shade Range, Coverage , Pros and Cons, and Overall.

Info:

Maybelline BB Cream

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream

Price: £6.99

My shade: Light

Where you can buy it in the UK: Boots, Superdrug, Online

Body Shop BB Cream

The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream

Price: £12.00

My Shade: 01 (Lighter)

Where to Buy in the UK: In-store in the body shop, or body shop website.

Shade Range.

Maybelline: The shade range for this BB Cream is pretty limited, as BB Creams tend to be. There is Light, and Medium. Luckily for me, Light matches me perfectly, however not everyone is so lucky. If you have Porcelain or Ivory skin, this product won’t be for you, as Light will be too dark. And, on the other end of the spectrum, if you have dark skin, then Medium will still be too light.

Body Shop: So in this range there are 5 shades. 00 (Fair), 01 (Lighter), 02 (Medium), 03 (Darker), 04 (Dark). This is a pretty good range, for a BB Cream. Also, this BB Cream comes out of the tube white, and when you rub it in, it claims to adapt to your skin tone. I don’t think this is 100% true. Yes, it does appear to adapt, but still my BB Cream has an orangey tone, and rubbing it into my pale skin has no effect.

Winner = Body Shop

Coverage

Maybelline: I would say that the coverage for this BB Cream is pretty light. Obviously this is what you would expect from a BB Cream, and if you wanted heavier coverage then you would choose a foundation. Even though the coverage is pretty light, it definitely blurs imperfections and evens out skin tone, as it says on the tube.  Overall, pretty impressed with the coverage.

Body Shop: The coverage of this BB Cream is definitely light too, however I found it a bit patchy, and not as even as the Maybelline one. The fact that it is orange doesn’t really help, but I still wasn’t very impressed with the coverage.

Winner = Maybelline

Pros and Cons

Maybelline

Pros:

  • Pretty Cheap and Easily Accessible
  • Great Coverage
  • Lightweight
  • Contains Salicylic Acid which helps Acne

Cons:

  • Limited shade range
  • Specifically for acne-prone skin so not universal

Body Shop

Pros:

  • Wide shade range
  • ‘Adapts’ to skin tone

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • Only available at TBS (The Body Shop not Thomas Brodie Sangster)
  • Patchy coverage
  • Dodgy shades (Orange)
  • Flakes.

Overall

Overall my favorite is:

The Maybelline BB Cream

It has great, even coverage, gives you a matte finish, helps with acne, and it’s dirt cheap at £6.99

Let me know if you guys like this type of post, (Beauty Comparison), and I’ll see you soon!

Dealing with Acne

Hello everyone!

Today I’m doing a slightly different post to what you might be expecting. The title ‘Dealing with Acne’ suggests I would tell you about cleansers, washes, wipes, foundations, concealers and all the rest. But today I’m going to talk about the effect that acne can have on you as a person. One quote that helped me to deal with it was:

Your skin doesn’t define you. – Zoella

This is so true. It’s easy to feel like if you have bad skin, then you’re unhealthy and disgusting (Little bit of exaggeration but go with it. 😉 ) And another thing that doesn’t help, is the mass of urban myths surrounding acne and skin problems.

1. EATING GREASY FOOD HAS NO EFFECT ON ACNE.

I know lots of you won’t believe this but my GP said that there have been no scientific studies to prove that what you eat, affects your skin. This particular myth was made up by teenagers of parents who wanted their kids to stop eating pizza, and chocolate.

2. People who have acne are unhygienic

Ok, so I like to think of myself as a clean person. I wash my hands a lot, I shower everyday, and I always have hand sanitizer in my bag. However, I have acne. I use a facial scrub, cleanser and all the rest every day, and I still have acne. It’s taken me a long time to realise that you can have all the acne products in the world, and just might not work. Acne is hormonal. It comes from under your skin, from things in your brain which I don’t really know that much about so I’m not going to pretend to. Society needs to understand that some people, can’t help that they have acne. And if you ever see someone with acne, and you think ‘That’s so gross’ or ‘(S)he’s so disgusting’ please, think before you judge.

A tip for any fellow acne-sufferers, just know that it will get better. Your skin won’t always look like it does now, and when it does, you will be just as beautiful as you always have been, just it’ll be easier for everyone to recognise.

Lots of love, Rosie May xx

Hello world.

Hey guys!
Today I’m writing my first blog post ever. That’s exciting for me even if it isn’t for anyone else. The reason I want to write a blog isn’t because I want to become famous like Zoe, or anything like that, it’s because I want to feel like I have some people to talk to, and to offer advice. I’m doing this so that if everything else in my life crumbles, I have something to fall back on *starts singing someone to fall back on*
My blog is going to be a mix of beauty, lifestyle, chat and advice.
I’m 13 years old so i’m starting to get into makeup, so I will be posting about cheap, good products, and tips for finding the right shade, etc. I am also obsessed with youtubers 🙂 my favourites are Zoella, Pointless Blog, Sprinkle of Glitter, Tanya Burr, Rclbeauty101, Essie Button, Fleur, and sooooo many others!
If you have any requests do not hesitate to let me know!
Love from
